CannaAnnei Rubra’ is a tall Foliage Group cultivar; deep green and purple variegated foliage, large, acuminate shaped, maroon margin, branching habit; medium thickness round stems, coloured purple; flowers are erect, self-coloured red, staminodes are long and narrow, edges regular, blooms open in the early morning; seed is sterile, pollen is fertile; rhizomes are thick, up to 7 cm in diameter, coloured pink and purple; tillering is average.

One of the most free-flowering of the Foliage Group of Cannas. CannaAnnei’ was the pollen parent.

Our earliest reference to this specimen is Le Canna, E. Chaté et fils, 1867.
