Canna ‘Harvest Yellow’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, oblong shaped, transparent margin, spreading habit; oval main stems, coloured green; flowers are open, yellow with red spots, staminodes are narrow, edges regular, petals yellow, fully self-cleaning, average bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is prolific.
(M) This distinct Canna has small, yellow flowers with tiny red dots. The overriding effect is quite delicate. It is worth growing in a collection but not a stunner.
Summary: Even Kent Kelly who raised this specimen acknowledges that it is not an early season star. It gives its first blooms quite late in the season, and they an interesting but unexceptional small yellow bloom with tiny red dots. A must for any collection, but not a border star. Useful as a reliable border backdrop with exotic foliage.
