Canna ‘Caribbean Sunset’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; mid green foliage, elliptical shaped, acute apex, branching habit; oval main stems, coloured green; clusters of flowers are open, red-orange with a gold margin, throat gold, staminodes are large, edges regular, petals green, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, flowers in July until frosts in northern temperate zone, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured pink; tillering is good.

Canna ‘Carnaval’ is a tall Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, oval shaped, spreading habit; round stems, coloured green; panicles of flowers are open, salmon, tinged carmine with a yellow margin, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, petals red, fully self-cleaning, good bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, true to type, not self-pollinating, capsules round; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is slow.

A more recent cultivar has been marketed using the same name, which we can only refer to as CannaCarnaval (2)’.

CannaCarnaval (2)’ is a medium sized cultivar; green foliage, oblong shaped, spreading habit; round stems, coloured green; flowers are open, orange with a yellow margin, staminodes are medium size, low bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not true to type, not self-pollinating, capsules round.

This cultivar should not be confused with CannaCarnaval’, introduced in 1911.

This is a new introduction from Ernest Turc. Flowers are bright tangerine orange with a lighter golden edge and over stippling of gold. The foliage is green. (The name is also registered to a salmon-pink Vilmorin-Andrieux introduction of 1911. Another example of the confusion in Canna naming.)

Canna ‘Carousel’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage; flowers are light orange streaked with yellow, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type.

Turns pink with white streaks as the flower ages. A flower stalk will have the entire range of colours as the newer flowers emerge within the older flowers. Available from a few nurseries in the USA.
