CannaAnnei Rosea’ is a tall Foliage Group cultivar; dark green foliage, very large, lanceolate shaped, maroon margin, upright habit; round stems; spikes of flowers are open, self-coloured carmine-rose, staminodes are narrow, edges irregular, stamen yellow; petals red, not self-cleaning, late bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; seed is sterile, pollen is fertile; rhizomes are long and thin, coloured pink and purple; tillering is prolific.

The flowers are few and late, and this is primarily a foliage plant, with leaves averaging about 2 ft. 4 ins long.

Our earliest reference to this specimen is Le Canna, E. Chaté et fils, 1867.

CannaAnnei Rubra’ is a tall Foliage Group cultivar; deep green and purple variegated foliage, large, acuminate shaped, maroon margin, branching habit; medium thickness round stems, coloured purple; flowers are erect, self-coloured red, staminodes are long and narrow, edges regular, blooms open in the early morning; seed is sterile, pollen is fertile; rhizomes are thick, up to 7 cm in diameter, coloured pink and purple; tillering is average.

One of the most free-flowering of the Foliage Group of Cannas. CannaAnnei’ was the pollen parent.

Stems purple, very robust, 3¼ ft. to nearly 5 ft. high. Leaves thick and firm, of a deep green, finely rayed and margined with purple. Flowers blood-red, well-formed. Rootstocks conical, of medium size. A very shy bloomer.

4 to 5 feet in height, with massive deep green purple-veined foliage, and bearing conspicuous masses of blood-red or crimson flowers. One of the best.

Stems brownish-purple, 6½ ft. high, when not divided year after year. Leaves at first erect, afterwards deflected throughout their entire length and spreading very much, 2 ft. 4 ins. long and 1 ft. wide. Flowers late, crimson, in a handsome panicle. Rootstocks brown, conical, very short. Ripens its seeds well.

Canna ‘Musafolia Peruviana’ is a tall cultivar; light green foliage, very large, broadly oblong shaped, maroon margin, spreading habit; oval main stems, coloured green + purple; spikes of flowers are cupped, red-orange with orange-red spots, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, labellum is gold flecked, stamen is gold with orange markings, style is orange, petals yellow, fully self-cleaning, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not true to type, self-pollinating, capsules round; rhizomes are thick, up to 7 cm in diameter, coloured pink and purple; tillering is prolific.

This does not normally flower in northern climates, but if kept growing over the winter in a heated greenhouse or conservatory it will happily bloom either in late spring or the following late summer.

Stems dark-red, from 3½ ft. to 5 ft. high. Leaves long and narrow, lance-shaped, reflexed, dark-red rayed with purple. Flowers large, of a cinnabar red. Rootstocks dark-red, very long, conical, and cylindrical. Resembles a weeping willow.
