Canna ‘Aristote’ is a miniature sized Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, ovoid shaped, spreading habit; round main stems, coloured green; flowers are cupped, self-coloured pink, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, fully self-cleaning, average bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, self-pollinating , not true to type, capsules globose.

This attractive cultivar was grown as a border edging at Kew Gardens for several years.

Summary: A classic patio plant, small in height but a prolific grower providing colour from early summer through until the first frosts. Single pink flowers are clustered in terminal spikes and held perfectly above the green leaves. Size: Small in height, prolific grower. Height 60-75cm (24-30in). Flower: Single flowers clustered in terminal spikes. Flowers of deep rose pink, which are held perfectly above the leaves. Flowers summer and early autumn. Foliage: Produces lush, arching green foliage.

Canna ‘Colibri’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, oval shaped, spreading habit; oval main stems, coloured green; spikes of flowers are open, pale yellow with pink spots, staminodes are medium size, edges irregular, fully self-cleaning, average bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, self-pollinating and also true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is average. 

Colibri is French for “Humming Bird”.

G Truffaut 1966. Large delicate red flowers with the texture of tissue paper. Green foliage. Very early to flower, and begins to flower when about 30 cm tall. An ideal patio/pot plant. To around 80 cm.

(S) A cultivar with bright capsicum-red flowers, which are tinted orange. It is early flowering and has green foliage. It is one of the best dwarf types and was raised by G. Truffaut in 1966. It is generally available from specialist nurseries.
