The Encyclopedia is making steady progress. The plant details have been imported, and I am slowly editing them, adding picture galleries and linking them together.
The trials section is coming on… the RHS Chiswick trials have been added and edited. Currently working on the 1907 RHS indoor trials.
Progress through the Canna plants is slow, as so much work involved with each article, but we have now completed the letters A and B and working our way through the letter C.
Completed the draft article describing the Crozy Group, and hope that it clarifies some of the comments people have made about that grouping.
Compolted articles on Agricultyure Group, Aquatic Group and Musafolia Group. More work will be needed in due course on the aquatic Group article, but the current one will do for now.
Completed all articles on the Cultivar Groups, back to individual plant articles – half way through letter C, so still a way to go.
Started tackling thr history section, split into topics, mostly with dummy text. Completed scientific history of hybrization article.
Finished the list of Reserved Names. It is not complete, and probably never will be, but I’ll have another session researching the archives in a few months time.
Just published an article called “Sports of Roi Humbert 1er”, which I hope can stop the arguments over synonyms, marketing ploys and ownership.
The fact is that we have little control over chimera sports, and need to stop treating them like normal cultivars. Just enjoy the great plants they are giving us…
Slogging through completion of the alphabetical plant descriptions. Now reached the letter ‘N’, so feel satisfied enough to have a crow about it, but also learned to stop predicting when this first tranche of plants will be complete. Everyone of my predictions has been wildlky wrong 🙂

Canna GigundoFollowing our move to Normandy, I found an old farmhouse less than a mile from us with several heritage varieties of Canna growing there. One of those is Canna ‘Flamboyant;, which I have added to the encyclopedia today.
