Canna ‘Braunti’ is a giant Foliage Group cultivar; dark foliage, spreading habit; round stems, coloured purple; flowers are open, pink and carmine, staminodes are large, edges regular, blooms open in the early morning; seed is sterile, pollen is fertile.

The breeder succeeded in using pollen from C. ‘Ehmanni’ on other existing hybrids, to obtain many different foliage plants with large flowers. The leaves are a magnificent Musa form, the flowers just as large as those of C. ‘Ehmanni’; but they do not produce as many flowers as the Crozy Group.

Tall. Leaves metallic purple-red. Flowers pink, shaded carmine. Breeder: Herrn. F. Lombard Note: The breeder succeeded, with the fertilisation between C. Ehmanni and other existing hybrids, to obtain many different foliage plants with large flowers. The leaves are a magnificent Musa form, the flowers just as large as those of C. ‘Ehmanni’; but they do not produce as many flowers as the Crozy Group.

Canna ‘Brilliant’ is a small Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, oblong shaped, branching habit; round main stems, coloured green; spikes of flowers are open, gold rayed with maroon, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, stamen is gold speckled with vermilion, style is gold, good bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured white and pink; tillering is slow.

The naming has become confused with the Crozy cultivar named ‘Brillant’.

(S) Small cherry-red open-petalled flowers are very similar to ‘Strasbourg’. It produces a compact plant with green leaves. Originally raised by A. Crozy although the date is not registered.

Canna ‘Champigny’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; bronze foliage, oval shaped, branching habit; oval stems, coloured purple; flowers are open, self-coloured cerise, staminodes are medium size, fully self-cleaning, low bloomer, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not self-pollinating or true to type, capsules globose; rhizomes are thick, up to 3 cm in diameter, coloured purple.

Our earliest reference to this specimen is Ian Cooke, The Gardeners Guide to Growing Cannas.

The only photographs that we have of this plant, from various sources,  show bad virus contamination. The absence of any on sale on the web raises the question  as to whether it is now available commercially.

Canna ‘Charles Henderson’ is a medium sized Crozy Group cultivar; green foliage, oval shaped, spreading habit; flowers are open, self-coloured crimson, throat gold pencilling, staminodes are medium size, edges regular, stamen is yellow with red spots, style is red and yellow, petals red, blooms open in the early morning; fertile both ways, not known if true to type, not self-pollinating.

The earliest reference is from Garden and Forest Journal in 1983, L.H. Bailey. Still being sold by Inter-State Nurseries in 1950, so its probably still being grown in the USA.
